Gujranwala is one golden triangle cities of Punjab – also known as city of wrestlers and Gama Pehlwan (wrestler) is a renowned figure in this field. Modern Gujranwala is little different than the old Gujranwala in many perspectives. Gujranwala is now hub of industry including Ceramics, Stainless Steel, Electric Fans and Motors and Leather Goods. It is equally good in producing rice grains and that is why one can see many rice mills around. There are about 200 villages which are home to Jatt ethnic community such as Sandhu, Ghumman, Sidhu, Mangat and Virk.

Gujranwala is also rich in ancient history – it is birth place to Maharaja Ranjit Singh who ruled sub-continent for 45 years. This is the place where Guru Nanak meditated and stayed for some days and three Sikh historical places are located at Eminabad (nearby town of Gujranwala) where thousands of Sikhs come to pay tribute to their holy places named Gurdwara Rohri Sahib, Gurdwara Chakki Sahib and Bhai Lalu di Khoi.
